Novotel - London Paddington

Guillaume Rapin _ Since I was a child, I have always been passionate about service. As far as I can remember during family gatherings, I always took great pride and pleasure in serving people at the family table. It was my way of saying welcome to our house.

Summary_ Years later, this passion still habits me and every day I welcome our guests with the same spirit than when I was welcoming family friends at home. I believe that every interaction with a guest should be meaningful and intended at getting to know the other person. I invite my teams to genuinely and warmly interact with all our guests, not only to demonstrate a good sense of hospitality, but mostly as it allows team members to be curious and expand their knowledge._ Engaging with people is an amazing way for the teams to bring diversity to their daily routine and this contributes to them being open minded. Becoming general manager was of course a dream when I embarked in a career in hospitality and could I go back in time, I would choose the same path again. General Manager is the dream job. It combines many varied aspects from building management to developing people. One minute you discuss rate strategies with your revenue manager and the next talk food with the Chef with the ultimate objective of exceeding your goals, whether financial, qualitative or people driven._ The variety of this job makes every minute of it worthwhile, but what makes it incredible is the opportunities you have as a manager to set benchmarks and to witness your team develop under your guidance and see them embrace projects that will impact not only their work, but their life (and the ones from others) with the projects we carry out in the community._ Please tell us why do you think you should win?_ Winning this award would be a fantastic recognition for me but also for the team working with me as they are the ones developing our current team into the managers of tomorrow. It would be also a true accolade from peers as to what we try to achieve in terms of staff welfare. It would encourage us to continue all our efforts within the local community and push us to go to the next steps to engage even further in being a fully responsible hotel, not only from a sustainable perspective but also as responsible employers.
