A true hotelier from the outset, Mr Rey undertook his training at Ecole Hôtelière Les Roches, Switzerland and the Hotel Management School of Northwood Institute, Michigan, U.S. In 1984 he began his career at InterContinental Medellin in his native country of Colombia and has remained with the company ever since. During his time with InterContinental Hotels & Resorts, Mr Rey has worked across departments throughout South and Central America, Middle East, Australia and Europe.

Summary _ A true hotelier from the outset, Mr Rey undertook his training at Ecole Hôtelière Les Roches, Switzerland and the Hotel Management School of Northwood Institute, Michigan, U.S. In 1984 he began his career at InterContinental Medellin in his native country of Colombia and has remained with the company ever since. During his time with InterContinental Hotels & Resorts, Mr Rey has worked across departments throughout South and Central America, Middle East, Australia and Europe. _ In 1990 he joined Del Lago InterContinental in Maracaibo, Venezuela as Resident Manager before moving to the InterContinental Amman, Jordan as Resident Manager later that year._ In 1994 Mr Rey returned to his native Colombia as General Manager of Las Lomas Forum, Medellin before moving to the InterContinental Cali in 1996. His successes were rewarded with the prestigious General Manager position of InterContinental Sao Paulo and then General Manager at InterContinental Buenos Aires. _ In August 2006 Mr Rey was asked to oversee the pre-opening of InterContinental Kansas, U.S. before transferring to the InterContinental Sydney, Australia in the same year._ Mr. Rey brought his expertise as General Manager to the flagship hotel for IHG, InterContinental London Park Lane, in 2009. His unique sustainable approach to business, which rewards staffing development and community involvement, has helped increased turnover by 13% and RevPAR by 15%. Mr. Rey also reduced staff turnover by 23% and has developed the hotel’s responsible business programs across all departments._ In 2011 Mr Rey was one of only four top GM’s to be recognized as Best General Manager of a luxury/upscale hotel in the Worldwide Hospitality Awards 2011. In addition, InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) also honoured Mr. Rey with the coveted General Manager of the Year Award in the 2011 Europe Hotel Awards. _ He is a keen sportsman who enjoys football, tennis, skiing, and riding. He and his wife Rosa have two children, a son, Camilo and a daughter, Isabella.
