On Lake Lucerne, in the heart of Central Switzerland, a dazzling, unparalleled world awaits: the Bürgenstock Resort is Switzerland’s grandest hospitality offering following a nine-year, 550 million Swiss franc development to revive this historic icon. Impressive architecture, 4 luxury award-winning hotels, a 10,000 m² Alpine spa, 69 private residences, 10 restaurants and bars, shopping, more than 30 business event rooms with a capacity for more than 600 guests and a medical centre come together in a spectacular setting 500 meters above Lake Lucerne.

Franz Josef Bucher and Josef Durrer were the brave pioneers of the Bürgenstock Resort. In 1871, they bought the resort property on the Bürgenberg ridge. To this day, “The Future has a Past” is the core philosophy at Bürgenstock, blending classic Swiss heritage, innovative planning, and intelligent leading design. The resort heralds a new era in Swiss hospitality. Modern rational is found across four luxury hotels, healthy living, and private residence suites, whilst the resort boasts a fascinating heritage dating back to 1873.

Famous guests were instrumental in making a legend of the Bürgenstock Resort. Now, a new chapter has begun. Over the years, the resort has evolved and became a favourite destination for numerous Hollywood stars including Sophia Loren and Audrey Hepburn. The innovative resort concept of today commenced in 2008. The former hideaway of some of Hollywood’s most iconic stars has been successfully reintroduced to the world itself as a major contender in the luxury hospitality industry.

In the present day, the Resort is owned by Katara Hospitality, a global hotel owner, developer and operator, based in Qatar. With 50 years of experience in the industry, Katara Hospitality actively pursues its strategic expansion plans by investing in iconic properties in key international markets. The Bürgenstock Resort, known as a miraculous hideaway, has hosted numerous personalities and boasts the funicular railway and the Hammetschwand Lift, Europe’s largest outdoor lift.

The Bürgenstock Resort aims to be a destination in itself, recognised internationally for its splendour, experiences, and high-quality service. The resort has become a globally recognised resort with state of art historic and new architectural landmarks in a unique lakeview and alpine location putting Swiss hospitality back on the map. Even arriving at the Resort is a truly majestic experience. Guests travel via a private catamaran before boarding the Resort's very own legendary Bürgenstock Funicular, before proceeding over the Piazza to the magnificent terrace, Shopping Arcade, and Alpine Garden.

They have developed a program that includes 120 unique experiences that you can only experience at the Resort, including all new “Forest Dinner”, a fairytale table setting in the Bürgenberg woodlands which is just one of the unique dining experiences offered as part of the Bürgenstock Resort Signature Dining Series.

The Bürgenstock Resort offers a complete and extensive array of sports and outdoor adventures, perfect for those looking for adrenaline fuelled excursions. Staff at the centre seamlessly assist guests in organising tailored activities to suit individual tastes. Guests may opt to take in the views of the vast landscape, stretching from Lake Lucerne and across the Alps, whilst on one of many mapped hiking routes covering 70km, mountaineering or even paragliding for panoramic views.

Meanwhile the exclusive Bürgenstock Alpine Golf course offers a captivating mountain backdrop, with a Golf Pro always available for private lessons. For a more sedate yet still enjoyable afternoon, the Resort offers an on-site private cinema, outdoor yoga, chocolate making classes and much more activities, also suitable for children.
