At the end of June 2022, Compagnie des Alpes announced its intention to acquire 85% of the capital of MMV. This means 10 hotel clubs and 10 club residences in the French Alps. The group is thus extending its presence in the mountains, adding accommodation to the ski lifts it operates in 10 mountain resorts, in addition to its role as the 4th largest operator of leisure parks in Europe.

On 30 September, Club Med announced the opening of the Tignes resort, bringing to 14 the number of mountain destinations operated by the brand. The group, which is present in 40 countries with 67 resorts, continues to invest in the Alps.

The mountains attracted many tourists again in the summer of 2022, in search of coolness and nature. As elsewhere in Europe and in France, the season was very good for operators but will not erase the months of closure in the winter 2019/2020 and 2020/2021 seasons which have severely impacted turnovers.

In the longer term, the climatic upheaval also threatens an industry based on snowmaking that is extremely profitable for the destination's players. If some choose to go only to high altitudes, what is the strategy for these two key players in the mountain offer? What actions are they taking to preserve the value of their assets? Beyond the mountains, how do they project their action plans on a European scale, and what are the priority destinations?

The leisure and local clientele is becoming the new alpha and omega for accommodation providers. Let's talk about it with leisure specialists on 21 November 2022 at the Hospitality Asset Forum.
