Vanguélis Panayotis, CEO MKG Consulting and Hospitality ON, launched the 9th edition of the Hospitality Asset Forum by encouraging everyone to look ahead to the future of the hospitality industry. During this day dedicated to tourism investment, professionals were able to reflect together on the tourism of tomorrow.
When we left you in June, the results were mixed, but we were expecting a solid rebound. We did not expect it to be so solid. We will probably end the year "in the green". We certainly still have many challenges ahead of us, which we will discuss today at the Hospitality Asset Forum. Let's see how, together as an industry, we can define a consensus and form an opinion. By sharing our respective visions, we challenge the status quo.
Our sector is working on long-term projects, so we need to give perspective. Our industry has to set its horizon in terms of investments over 5, 10 years. We are a counter-cyclical sector. In the 1980s, loans were financed at 10 to 12%, we were in a period of inflation and we industrialised the hotel industry in France and the United Kingdom.
We have had crises, and the crisis we have just gone through was a mobility crisis. Now that we have regained mobility, we see the appetite and even the need for our sector on the part of consumers. It is up to us to update our software and find the right words for access to finance.
Our ambition with the Hospitality Asset Forum is, at each Momentum, to come together and discuss our possible disagreements in order to draft a consensus together. This way we can explain to all the players in the ecosystem how we are moving in the right direction in this industry that we love.
To address the issue of retaining and attracting young talent, we organised the Young Talent Awards this year. The first ceremony to reward the work of the students was held today in the presence of the hotel groups, Accor, Disneyland Paris, Hilton, IHG Hotels & Resorts and Radisson Hotel Group, which had launched the challenges.
See you in 2023 for the Hospitality Operator Forum.
