Glasgow's Bellgrove Hotel was ranked among the best hotels in the United Kingdom, though it is a homeless center.
Contacted by the Bellgrove team, which ignored the presence of the establishment on TripAdvisor, the site removed it from the ranking. To justify its error, it highlighted the difficulty in verifying the reliability of the 60 comments posted each minute on the community site.
This is not the first complaint TripAdvisor has received concerning the veracity of its comments. Last year, the authority for supervising Advertising, B.A.S.A., forbade the community site from using the term "honest and reliable" in its communication, deeming that the numerous internet-user testimonies had a fraudulent character that could dupe consumers.
