Helsinki, the capital and largest city in Finland is connected by ferry to many major Baltic Sea cities such as Stockholm, Tallinn and St. Petersburg. As the first industrial center of Finland, the city, which has two airports, hosts the headquarters of the most of Finland’s banks and companies.
The capital has 7,829 chain rooms on January 1, 2017. It grew by 4.5% in 2016, a similar growth rate as in 2015. Whereas the midscale supply decreased, the upscale supply increased significantly. Helsinki now gathers 30% of the national chain supply.
The leaders of the Helsinki market are Scandic (1,804 rooms), Sokos (1,392 rooms, down by 9.8%), and Radisson Blu (1,502 rooms, up 18.2%). Together they operate almost half the chain supply in Helsinki.
