Hard Rock Hotels to open at intrawest resorts

Lifestar Hotels, the JV between Sol Melia and Hard Rock International, has signed an agreement to develop Hard Rock-branded lifestyle condominium-hotels at Intrawest resorts. The JV was formed in June 2003. So far it has opened a fortystorey property in Chicago, with 381 rooms and 24 suites. Confirmed openings in the pipeline are: Madrid (spring 2006); New York (2006); Biloxi (by the end of this year); and San Diego (winter 2006). Sol Melia runs the hotels under management contract while it also has the say in terms of sales, marketing and distribution. Hard Rock deals with the concept, design and branding of the hotels while sourcing the contracts. The Intrawest release talks about 'lifestyle condominium-hotels' at its North American mountain resorts, including Whistler Blackstock, host of the 2010 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games. It has a golf resort in Florida. It also develops real estate on site. ‘Hard Rock and Intrawest are finalizing specific locations and will announce the first lifestyle condominium-hotel site shortly,’ said the company spokes person.
