Guoman Hotels Group goes to China

Established in 2002, Guoman Hotels Group owns and operates 41 hotels in the UK and Malaysia, and most recently in Shanghai China across its two brands, the Guoman Hotels and Thistle Hotels. The 442-room Guoman Hotel Shanghai will be followed in 2011 by Guoman Hotel Beijing and the group is now targeting between 40 and 50 new openings in Asia over the next five years. The Guoman Hotels brand currently comprises four luxurious hotels in Central London: Charing Cross, The Cumberland, The Royal Horseguards and The Tower. A distinctively British flavour will be the signature of the brand throughout Asia. Also owner of the 4-star brand Thistle, the Guoman Hotels Group has invested more than €120 million in upgrading its UK properties. Thistle began its international expansion in 2009, with two properties already operating in Malaysia and will follow the expansion plan of the group in Asia.
