Scott Deibert, Senior Vice President, Procurement at The Rezidor Hotel Group, has answered Hospitality ON's questions during the 21st edition of the Global Lodging Forum. [Transcript follows]
According to you, what are the future takes regarding purchase in the hospitality industry?
We’ve got three things that I believe we really need to focus on. The first is to continuously drive source in value contribution, which for us is defined as continued savings, cost reduction, revenue generation in every hotel.
The second is to continuously engage our suppliers to bring innovation, new technology, into the business. They need to help us stay abreast of what’s happening for trends in the industry, so that we can then – the third thing – really focus on enhancing the guest experience to make sure that every moment matters during the stay of our guests when they come to our hotels.
How did the rest of the group integrate sustainable development in the purchase policy?
We have taken a sincere effort to incorporate the sustainable practices into our code of conduct – it’s a formalized document to we’ve had all our suppliers sign. In that document, we have specific clauses that cover sustainability requirements, so they understand very clearly what efforts we want them to do in terms of the environment, or water saving utilities, the impact that they have on the planet in terms of products that we are buying from them.
The second is in our fee process, our request for proposals, where we will actually ask questions regarding what that supplier is doing regarding sustainability efforts: and that then factors into our sustainability process on who we will ultimately select because we do put heavy significance in that particular category.
