Every month, Vanguélis Panayotis, Development Director of MKG Group, comments on the French luxury hotel performances on Hospitality-On after the the monthly MKG Hospitality results are published.
"The month of May 2013 was more favorable for hotel groups than previous month.Compared to May 2012 RevPAR all categories included increased by 3%. The upscale segment follows this trend with a 3.3% increase of RevPAR due to an increase in occupation compared to May 2012. Parisian palaces still stay ahead in the market with avery strong increase in revenue per available room both during the week and weekends.A high potential clientele increasingly present allows hoteliers to drive prices up(+14.5%). Moreover, the Cannes Film Festival is no stranger to strong positive developments in the Riviera and seems to have the most benefited to upscale hotel during the week. The limited success of the festival in May 2012 along with the presidential election campaign allow these areas experiencing good performances this year over 2012."
