Barcelona’s hotel occupancy progressed in 2013

City hotels hosted more than 7.5 million tourists in the course of the year, or more than 1.77% more than in 2012.

Barcelona is increasing it hotel occupancy. In 2013, the Catalan capital hosted some 7.5 million tourists at its hotels, or more than 1.77% more than in 2012. This progress represents an increase by close to 11,000 visitors per month. In terms of nights, results for the city are close to 16.5 million, or 3.4% more than last year.

France leads tourist supply markets at the destination, with close to 636,903 visitors, followed by the United Kingdom (629,969 tourists), and the United States (627,412 tourists). Germans, Italians and Russians were also well-represented in the city. Moreover, the Russian market is the one that recorded the strongest increase in occupancy, by around 22.1%, followed by the Swiss (+11.9%) and Germans (+9.3%).
