It had been a long time since the professionals of the sector were waiting to see such an excitement, the long week-end from 26 to 29 May broke the ceiling of performances compared to 2019 according to the daily MKG_destination data. An activity that will not erase the up and down months, but which augurs a more than positive summer season.
A breath of fresh air for hoteliers in Paris, Cannes and Marseille
The Champions League final is making headlines in the international press, and not necessarily for the right reasons. Two years before the Paris Olympic and Paralympic Games, the outbursts around the Stade de France have tarnished the image of the festivities. If it is up to the competent authorities to shed light on the conditions that led to the spoiling of part of the celebration, one thing is certain: the hoteliers of Greater Paris made the most of the arrival of the English and Spanish fans to fill their properties and raise prices as high as possible.
For the nights of 27 and 28 May, the departments of Ile-de-France showed a 101.5% increase in RevPAR to €205 excluding tax. Paris, unsurprisingly, had the highest RevPAR at €313 excluding tax. Seine Saint-Denis, the department where the Stade de France is located, saw its RevPAR increase by 146.4%, although it had the lowest OR of all the departments at 85.4%. The best increases in occupancy compared to 2019 can be seen in the "green" departments, which are popular among urban dwellers looking for a chlorophyll break. 20 points more TO in Yvelines and +21.9 points in Essonne.
Marseille outperformed by 1 point in occupancy and approached saturation with 90.7% occupancy on Ascension Day. RevPAR rose by 81.3% thanks to the two rugby matches held at the Velodrome stadium. For the whole month of May (until 29 May), the Phocaean City saw its OR increase by 9 points compared to 2019.
In Cannes, the Festival makes prices explode and boosts occupancy.
