After several months watching its indicators contract, the French hotel industry sees a glimmer of hope in April. Business activity was slowed down less by the school holidays than last year, although Easter weekend and school holidays overlapped this year.

Average daily rates at properties nonetheless pursued a downtrend, once again showing the impact on pre-tax prices of the increase in the VAT for the hotel and restaurant sectors: they decreased by 1.3%. In a difficult economic context, hoteliers, in fact, limited the impact on final customer prices...
