The newly created joint venture Belfont Hotels, owned by the Thakerar and Dhamecha families, has just acquired The Cosmopolitan Hotel, located in Leeds. The hotel belonged to the Peel Hotels group, operating 7 hotels across the UK.

The two families have expressed their views on the acquisition of this hotel. Keval Thakerar said

"We are delighted to have secured such a diverse hotel as the Cosmopolitan. Leeds city center generates a strong demand for business and leisure activities throughout the year and once our investment is completed we will have one of the best venues in the city"..

In addition, Akshay Dhameca added :

"We look forward to working with the Thakerar family on our first hotel acquisition and continuing to develop the Belfont Hotel portfolio. The Cosmopolitan is an iconic building in the heart of the city and, with new investments, we are confident that the hotel will be very popular. We are pleased to have Countrywide Hotels as part of our management team, whose experience has proven to be invaluable".

The property, located at the corner of Briggate and Swinegate and opposite the Malmaison Leeds Hotel, is one of the oldest hotels in the city. It has 89 rooms, a lounge on the first floor and a dining area with a bar and restaurant. In addition, the city of Leeds is strategically located in the center of the United Kingdom and is about an hour's drive from Manchester:

Following its first acquisition, the Belfont Hotels group plans to expand its portfolio with property acquisitions in the country's major cities.
