During a new round for the purchase of the airport the three finalists were chosen.
A shareholder for four years of the Toulouse-Blagnac Airport (49.9 %), the firm Casil Europe, which includes the Chinese groups Friedmann Pacific AM and Shandong Hi-Speed Group, announced at the beginning of the year that it wanted to sell its shares.
The great fear of those who oppose privatization of the airport - that the shareholder will sell its shares to a foreign investment fund - is not likely to be realized. Of the ten bids, the three finalists are French:
- Vinci Airports with the Caisse des Dépôts Infrastructure and Predica (Crédit Agricole group). Vinci already has significant experience in the sector and in 2018 handled 195.2 million passengers.
- Private investment house Ardian with Banque Populaire Occitane, the Caisse d'Epargne MidiPyrénées and investment manager Mirova (Natixis).
- Eiffage, which bid alone.
According to La Dépêche, Casil Europe asked 500 million for its shares, representing 192 million euros more than it spent to buy them.
Next round, March 15, 2019, with the submission of final offers.
