Brussels approves Starwood's takeover of the Sofitel Budapest

The European Commission has approved the joint control over the 5-star hotel.

The Sofitel Budapest Chain Bridge is a 5-star hotel with 357 rooms in the center of Budapest.

It is now under the control of Starwood Capital and Accor-Pannonia Hotels, the local subsidiary of AccorHotels. Accor operates the hotel while Starwood is the owner further to a 75 million euro takeover.

The commission decided that the "operation would not give rise to competition concerns considering its limited impact on the structure of the market".
