French hotels keep smiling… even in the rain

Results on the last 12 months confirm these trends. All categories are progressing. Upscale tourism has shown significant progress in Paris as well as on the French Riviera. Growth in prices may thus pursue its course (+5.5%) without slowing occupancy which is up by 1.3 points. Perspectives for the end of the year are excellent, with the World Rugby Cup and then the Batimat fair in Paris in November. MKG Consulting’s forecasts made at the beginning of the year for growth in the RevPar by 8 to 10% for the year 2007 are in the process of being superbly confirmed.

Despite disastrous weather, July was very satisfactory for French hotels with a global RevPAR up by nearly 11%. The shortened summer season between mid-July and mid-August benefited hotel chains, which are able to play on both the leisure and business segments (which are strong even in July), versus...
