Roeland Vos, former president Starwood Hotels & Resorts Europe, Africa and Middle East of has taken over the position of John Scott, as president and CEO at Belmond, formerly Orient Express.
John Scott resigned from the position he held at the group since 2012 by mutual agreement with the board of directors. The board at Belmond clearly declared it had lost confidence in the former president and his ability to meet the company's strategic goals.
Roeland Vos enters this position with 30 years of experience in the hotel industry, 12 of which have been spent as president of the Europe, Africa and Middle East division of Starwood Hotels & Resorts (from 2001 to 2013), the new president and ceo should be able to achieve Belmond's strategic short and long term goals. Within the Starwood group, he made it possible to increase the number of hotels in the region from 127 to 243, as well as the revenues of this group valued at more than 4 billion euros.
