Capella Hotels & Resorts: a new luxury brand just opened its first hotel last month. Its creator: Horst Schulze. The ex-president of Ritz-Carlton revealed the first jewel in its collection that should grow very rapidly. Six other properties are being completed around the world. For this first work located in Velden, the Monte Carlo of Austria, Horst Schulze decided to revive an old jewel of the hotel industry, the Schloss Velden. This castle built in 1603, and rebuilt after a terrible fire, hosted the world’s greats for a century on the shores of the picturesque Lake Woerth until becoming the private residence of the industrialist Gunther Sachs in 1991. This hotel is representative of the future properties of this new brand: just a hundred rooms to assure high quality service, a very large spa for the relaxation of guests, a gastronomic restaurant, state-of-the-art-meeting equipment. The hotel also has its own marina and a private beach on the lake. In addition to 39 rooms in the historic building and 66 in an ultra-modern adjacent structure, the Schloss Velden offers 45 private residences for sale. KHBAG, development subsidiary of the bank Hypo Alp Adria, will have spent 100 million euros on the development of this alpine resort. This bank is the first to place its trust in this brand that should be watched closely.
