Calviá Dreams Hotel

The Spanish group has just signed an agreement with Hotel Investment Partners (HIP) to manage the new hotel Pax Barracuda in Palma de Majorca of the coast of Spain.

The agreement includes the transformation of two existing hotels, Calviá Dreams and Barracuda, in into a single entity. This project, which will include re-positioning and renovation, will include the investment of 23 million euros by Hotel Investment Partners (HIP), for an April 2020 opening. Fully rebranded, the new property, will have 391 rooms. It will include a new concept built around the experience, with events such as show-cooking to be held in the common areas. The goal is to attract clientele with strong purchasing power, and thus detach from the former target who were participants in trips organized by tout operators.

The challenge for the property company HIP was to find a manager that could handle the job. Alejandro Hernández Puértolas, founder and CEO HIP, is confident:

It was primordial to choose the right management company to operate them. We have no doubt that Room Mate Hotels will provide the hotel management expertise needed to carry out the process of re-positioning .

It also allows Room Mate Hotels to develop at a seaside location. As Kike Sarasola (CEO and founder of the group) says, the hotelier is diversifying a bit more by adding this new type of property to its portfolio:

With this investment, we are making a bold commitment in the region of Magaluf, as many other major chains have done before us, including the Escarrer de Meliá family. Our clients wanted Room Mate to open a hotel at the beach, so we will surprise them one more time.

Historically, Room Mate Hotels focuses on urban centers, addressing a clientele that seeks a style that is warm and welcoming. According to its own figures, Room Mate Hotels currently operates 26 for 1,800 rooms.

The majority of its assets are thus shoreline properties, whether they are lifestyle hotels, simple resorts or all inclusive resorts all.
