
Brownsword Hotels was created by English businessman Andrew Brownsword to operate the four former Von Essen Hotels he just purchased.
British businessman Andrew Brownsword purchased four former von Essen hotels out of administration yesterday, reportedly for $50 million.Vos Essen defaulted on more than €250 million in debt in April, which experts believe is a result of a rather aggresive acquisition strategy and inability to maintain appropriate RevPAR levels.Brownsword Hotels has been created to operate the four properties.These four properties include -* Amberley Castle (pictured above), Amberley; -* Lower Slaughter Manor, Lower Slaughter; -* Washbourne Court, Lower Slaughter; and -* Buckland Manor, Broadway.They were purchased by Bath Priory Ltd., Bath, which is privately held by Brownsword and his wife.Nick Halliday, managing director one of Brownsword's companies, has been appointed its CEO.Vos Essen defaulted on more than €250 million in debt in April, which experts believe is a result of a rather aggresive acquisition strategy and inability to maintain appropriate RevPAR levels.
