Airbus supports the merge of us carriers

According to the US financial press, the plan to merge America West and US Airways will be supported by a $250m loan granted by Airbus in exchange for ordering 20 new A350 aircraft. The two airlines are also looking to raise $500m in new equity, with $375m- $400m from investment and the rest from a rights offering underwritten by a major financial institution. The new merged company would be called US Airways and be based at America West’s Phoenix, Arizona headquarters
