2000: The excellence of each individual can only be measured against others.
Created 19 years ago, the Worldwide Hospitality Awards were born out of a desire to offer recognition. On one hand, a hotel industry that encourages exemplary behaviour and seeks a platform to reveal itself to as many people as possible. On the other, visionary men and women who readily enhance dreams, ambitions, decisions and careers. The event grew out of a quest for excellence, that guides our lives in the quest for grandeur, genius and distinction.
2001 – 2011: Excellence means doing ordinary things extraordinarily well.
Paul Dubrule built the Accor empire alongside Gérard Pélisson. A precurser, he was the first ceremony chairman to point out the the industry's rising stars. They are hoteliers, teachers, students, suppliers, promoters and investors, who all brought innovative approaches and concepts. The following years, David Michels, former CEO Hilton, and Kurt Ritter, former CEO Rezidor, were present.
From 2006 to 2011, the adventure continues and the Worldwide Hospitality Awards reaffirms and redefines the rules with support from Roeland Vos, Gilles Pélisson, Arne Sorenson, Andrew Cosslett, Hubert Joly and Rakesh Sarna.
2012 – 2017: Excellence means knowing how to adapt.
Faced with a changing world, the time for refurbishment has come and Hospitality ON has passed the mike to its community and asked it to pre-select the five best dossiers presented to the jurys. Innovation thus continues to be driven by the biggest hotel groups, alongside Simon Vincent, Stephen P. Joyce, Federico J. Gonzáles Tejera, Laurence Parisot, Wolfgang M. Neumann and Sébastien Bazin.
2018: Excellence is not an action, it is a habit.
This year the President of the ceremony is already there! David Kong, president and CEO Best Western International will perpetuate the image of the competition: expert, innovative, close to its players and open to the world.
