Carnival is an emblematic celebration that takes place every year in Germany, one week before the start of Lent, from 8 to 13 February this year. The most famous festivities take place in Cologne and Düsseldorf over six days, known as Crazy Days. On "Rose Monday", the carnival's flagship event, around 11,500 costumed participants paraded through the streets of Cologne, while around 8,000 took part in Düsseldorf. It was a major event that boosted the local economy, particularly the hotel industry, which obviously benefited from the festivities.
