Hilton urges hotels to help prevent ‘lost generation’

The hotel chain has teamed with the International Youth Foundation to issue an industry-wide ‘call to action to help prevent a ‘lost generation’, and their white paper will offer solutions that the global hospitality sector can provide. It will be unveiled at the World Economic Forum starting in Davos, Switzerland

In its white paper Hilton said more than 75m young people can’t find jobs, so investing in opportunities for youth is a critical development issue and a growth strategy for businesses around the world.The company will announce the launch of Bright Blue Futures, a global commitment to youth development around the world led by its flagship Hilton Hotels & Resorts brand.Christopher J. Nassetta, president and chief executive of Hilton Worldwide, said: ‘As a global citizen and a leader in one of the largest industries in the world, we have a business imperative and responsibility to develop solutions that preserve our collective futures.’William S. Reese, president and chief executive of International Youth Foundation, added: ‘This paper and Hilton Worldwide’s leadership provide a critical foundation for how hospitality companies can respond to youth development strategically, while also supporting their business goals. Called Creating Opportunities for Youth in Hospitality, the white paper urges broad collaboration across businesses, governments and the NGO community to bring their scope and scale to bear on the’ youth employment challenge’.
