Glion The submission by GIHE to be considered for this Award is centred around an educational innovation initiative which forms a major part of the study program for Bachelor Degree students in their 4th semester.

Summary _ The integrated project has been used over the past four semesters in order to integrate students' thoughts, research and decision making using five core hospitality management courses. This creates a more holistic view for the students and develops the ability to appreciate the inter-relationship between the subjects._ A problem based learning approach is adopted to encourage and develop problem solving skills, research methods, strategic decision making and critical analysis of a real scenario. What makes this approach innovative is the involvement of the three key stakeholders, student industry partner and faculty in the educational process. By following the process of the project the students gather the tools necessary to appreciate the management of hospitality operations while strengthening the relationship between trade and training organisations. An additional benefit to the innovation is that this initiative is introduced to them at a much earlier stage of their development than in normal problem based learning scenarios therefore creating a much stronger foundation on which they can build in their future studies._ In keeping with our orientation to students the promotional film has been produced and edited by semester 7 students as part of their Fim production and design general education course._ Please tell us why do you think you should win?_ The Integrated Project team feel that this initiative is worthy of recognition of the Best Educational Innovation Award as it meets the requirements of the key stakeholders in hospitality education those being the student, the industry and the educational institution, and achieves this whilst providing a dynamic live learning experience and offers the institution benefits with little or no additional costs to the implementation.
