Edinburgh Carlton hotel reopens under the Hilton banner

Property of Amaris Hospitality, the hundred-year-old property received a 17 million pound facelift. Today it welcomes its guests in the heart of Scotland's capital as the Hilton Edinburgh Carlton.

The eighth property operated under the Hilton Hotels & Resorts on the British market, the Hilton Edinburgh Carlton offers 211 rooms. The property is located in the historic center of the Scottish capital, not far from its main tourist attractions and the Édimburgh-Waverley station. With 'Grade B' classification on the register of historic monuments, the hotel also has a restaurant and several spaces dedicated to events, with seven meeting rooms able to accommodate up to 200.

The Hilton Edinburgh Carlton is one of the jewels in the portfolio of Amaris Hospitality, the local hotel division of the Texas pension fund Lone Star Funds, which owns and operates 73 properties throughout the United Kingdom and Ireland. Last year, Amaris Hospitality announced  its intention to invest more than 100 million pounds to renovate twenty or so of its properties. On the Scottish market, the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Glasgow Central should reopen its doors in October after a similar renovations followed by rebranding.

This new opening is the sixteenth Scottish property operated under one of the brands of the group Hilton Worldwide. As of January 1, 2016, the American operator was the second hotel group worldwide in terms of number of rooms with a portfolio of 4,565 properties representing a total capacity of 751,350 rooms, according to data published by Hospitality ON.
