The Indian disrupter continues to grow, signing a distribution partnership with Hotelbeds, a hotel bank that works only BtoB with a network of 60,000 clients, travel agencies and tour operators.
OYO Hotels & Homes, 8th hotel group worldwide in our last ranking with close to 500,000 rooms on January 1, 2019 signed a strategic distribution agreement with Hotelbeds, a bedbank. In its catalogue, Hotelbeds will offer 18,000 hotels that are franchised or leased as well as 5,000 houses or villas in the Indian group. OYO will thus gain visibility on the reservation platforms of the 60,000 Hotelbeds clients including travel agents, tour operators and airlines in Western markets.
Since it opened in 2015, OYO has distributed its rooms directly through its mobile app. It is a pertinent model that worked on Asian markets but is impossible on Western markets that are already highly consolidated and where the adoption rate of digital habits is slower. This agreement happened when the Indian group expanded outside its domestic market (China and India) by developing in the United Kingdom and in Japan.
The distribution channel of Hotelbeds of B2B travel customers helps us access new customer segments from new geographic areas. Bedbank's profitable distribution channel makes it an ideal partner for achieving our goal.
