European hospitality is experiencing a trend of growing hotel reservations market share being taken up by OTAs, but also of pan-European consolidation. The two leaders, Booking.com and Expedia, represent 64% of global hotel reservation volume, compared to 60% in 2011.On the American market, which is even more mature, the four leaders, Priceline (parent corporation of Booking), Expedia, Orbitz and Travelocity, represent 95% of reservation volume. This may be a picture of European hospitality's future.A concentration among European actors, orchestrated by the two current major players, gives them more weight. Implementing safeguards and ethical regulations is even more clearly necessary if the number of actors is inevitably reduced.
