With the desire to reach 100 hotels in India by 2015 Starwood Hotels & Resorts is anticipating a significant growth of its portfolio in the country, with more than 60 properties in operation and under development.
Starwood Hotel & Resorts intends to continue its development in India. The group wants to reach a portfolio of 100 properties in operation and under development by the end of 2015, involving the launch of 60-65 hotels. India is currently the fourth largest market of the group, which has a portfolio of 39 hotels in the destination.
These new additions concern hotels in major cities such as New Delhi, Calcutta or Bombay, but also in resort destinations such as Goa or Bekal.
Starwood Hotels & Resorts is the 7th hotel group worldwide with a portfolio of 339,243 rooms in 1,161 establishments as at 1 January 2014, according the recent studies of MKG Hospitality, consulting firm in the hotel industry founded by Georges Panayotis in 1985.
