Starwood Hotels & Resorts to foster their network in Middle-East and Africa

The hotel group plans to open 50 properties in the region during the next five years. Starwood Hotels & Resorts also expects to pass the symbolic 100 hotel figure from now to the end of 2015.

Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide announced that it wants to augments its network by 60% in Africa and the Middle East by opening 20 hotels in the region from now to the end of 2015, representing more than14 000 rooms. The group therefore hopes to pass the symbolic 100 property figure by concentrating its efforts on destinations like the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Algeria, Egypt, Senegal, South Africa, and Nigeria.

In the longer term, Starwood Hotels & Resorts counts on opening 50 in the region over the next five years, to attain 130 hotels from now to 2017. In particular, the group should open 12 new properties in the United Arab Emirates, 6 in Saudi Arabia, one in Iraq, two in Nigeria, two in Algeria, and launch its Aloft brand in Saudi Arabia and Iraq.
