
Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide announced the official opening of the St. Regis Moscow Nikolskaya. Owned by Rutsog Invest, the hotel marks the entry of the St. Regis brand in Russia.

Starwood currently has six hotels in Russia, including The St. Regis Moscow Nikolskaya, Sheraton Moscow Sheremetyevo Airport Hotel, Sheraton Palace Hotel, and Hotel National Moscow, a Luxury Collection Hotel, as well as the W St. Petersburg and the newly opened Four Points by Sheraton Kaluga. The company will double its footprint in Russia over the next three years with new openings in cities such as Ufa, Rostov-on-Don, Krasnodar, Voronezh and Perm, as well as continued expansion in St. Petersburg and Moscow.
With the opening of The St. Regis Moscow Nikolskaya, St. Regis has tripled its global footprint in the past decade to 34 hotels. The brand is set to debut The St. Regis Mumbai and The St. Regis Dubai by the end of 2015.
On January 1, 2014, Starwood Hotels & Resorts was the seventh hotel group worldwide in terms of number of rooms, according to the ranking realized each year by MKG Hospitality, hospitality consulting firm founded by Georges Panayotis. The group had 339,243 rooms in 1,161 hotels. (Read our report)
