Sheraton grows stronger in China

Starwood Hotels & Resorts announced the opening of its first hotel in Chuzhou, in China, the Sheraton Chuzhou. The brand has thus grown to a network of 70 properties in the region.

Starwood Hotels & Resorts announced the opening of the Sheraton Chuzhou Hotel, its first property in the Chinese city. It brings the number of hotels in the brand portfolio in to 70 in the region and to 110 in Asia Pacific.

Owned by Chuzhou Alliance Hotel Management, the property was opened in Zhengwu Centre, near the Chuzhou's new central business district. It has 348 rooms and suites, two restaurants, spaces dedicated to organizing meetings and conventions, an athletics room, as well as an upscale spa.

China is a key market for the development of the Sheraton brand, and should make an important contribution to fulfilling the goal it set for opening 150 additional hotels worldwide by 2020.

As of January 1, 2015, Starwood Hotels & Resorts was the seventh hotel group worldwide in terms of number of rooms with 346,599 units in 1,207 properties according to MKG Hospitality, consulting firm founded by Georges Panayotis. (Read our report).
