Scandic Hotels will open a new hotel in 2018 at Norway's largest congress center, Norway Trade Fairs, in Lilleström.

Scandic Hotels, the largest hotel operator in the Nordic countries, will open a new hotel in 2018 - Scandic Portalen - at Norway's largest congress center, Norway Trade Fairs, in Lilleström. Lilleström is one of Norway's most important hubs for business travel and the only stop on the train line between the airport and Oslo Central Station.

The new 12-storey hotel, which will be located at the train station in Lilleström, will be the tallest building in the area. It will offer 220 hotel rooms and 500 m2 of meeting and conference facilities. The hotel is expected to be finished in January 2018.

Scandic is the Nordic region's market leading hotel operator with approximately 42,000 hotel rooms, of which 14,300 are in Norway. On January 1, 2015, Scandic is the17th hotel group in Europe in terms of number of rooms according to MKG Hospitality, consulting firm founded by Georges Panayotis. (read our article)
