Radisson is embarking on an ambitious plan to strengthen its presence in Morocco, aiming to increase its portfolio to 25 properties across the country by 2030. Currently, the company has 11 hotels in various stages of operation and development in the country.
Radisson will focus on strengthening its presence in key cities such as Casablanca and Marrakech. Currently, the group operates the Radisson Blu Hotel, Casablanca City Center and the Radisson Blu Hotel, Marrakech Carré Eden. In addition, Radisson plans to establish its presence in other key destinations, including Rabat, Tangier, Agadir and Fez.
In line with Radisson's strategic objectives for the next five years and in anticipation of the 2030 FIFA World Cup in Morocco, the company believes that these cities are ripe for the development of a diversified portfolio including hotels, serviced flats, upscale mixed-use projects and resorts. The imminent opening of the Radisson Hotel Casablanca Gauthier La Citadelle, in the dynamic Gauthier district of Casablanca, is a key development, marking the Radisson brand's entry into the Moroccan market.
Radisson has appointed Erwan Garnier to lead its expansion efforts in Morocco. Having been with Radisson for nine years, Garnier has been instrumental in expanding the company's African portfolio, particularly in French and Portuguese speaking countries, the Indian Ocean islands and, more recently, West and Central Africa.
“I am delighted to lead our expansion efforts in Morocco and take them to new heights. Leveraging our success in the country thus far, our expansion strategy will concentrate on targeting the major cities in Morocco.” - Erwan Garnier, Senior Director, Development, Africa at Radisson Hotel Group
Beyond Morocco, Radisson has been actively expanding its presence across Africa. In 2023 alone, the company has signed agreements for eight new hotels, adding more than 1,600 rooms to its portfolio. These developments are part of Radisson's overall strategy to increase its presence in Africa to 150 hotels over the next five years from the current 100.
Over the past three years, Radisson has launched 20 new properties on the continent, marking a significant step forward in transforming its development pipeline into operational hotels. This momentum has contributed to a 15% annual growth rate for Radisson's African portfolio.
Globally, Radisson has a network of more than 1,320 hotels in operation or under development in over 90 countries.
