Point A Hotels to expand in the UK

Whitbread dominates the British market with its brand Premier Inn, which is also the country's leading chain, although the expansion of the group's domestic operations slowed down last year. Quite a few international (ibis, Holiday Inn Express) and UK budget hotel chains (Jurys Inns, Easy Hotels, Travelodge) continue to diversify from their traditionally more upmarket offerings, however.

Another budget-brand player, Point A Hotels, is expanding its existing portfolio of seven centrally located hotels in the UK with the openings of new properties: Point A Edinburgh and Point A London Kensington.

Point A Edinburgh (June 2019)

The arrival of the new Point A Edinburgh (149 rooms) will bring low-priced rooms to the centre of the city in time for the 2019 Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

Point A Edinburgh is the operator’s second Scottish property: the first opened in March 2017 in Glasgow.

Point A London Kensington (July 2019)

Point A Hotel’s seventh London property, Point A London Kensington (103 rooms), will give a welcome boost to this area of West London where affordable accommodation is in short supply.

Point A Hotels have six hotels in London (Shoreditch, Liverpool Street, King’s Cross St Pancras, Paddington, Westminster and Canary Wharf) and another in Glasgow.

Five of the hotels, previously operated under a franchise agreement with the limited-service Tune Hotels brand, were relaunched as Point A Hotels.

Raag Hotels is a joint venture between affiliates of the Queensway Group, the Wellcome Trust and Fifty Seven 7, a company owned by Naguib Kheraj. In addition to having been a franchisee of Tune Hotels, the Queensway Group owns and operates the boutique hotel Montagu Place in London and manages 20 KFC restaurants and 13 Starbucks coffee shops across the UK.
