
The brand developed by Marriott International continues to enter the US market.
In 2015, Marriott International announced eight development projects in the United States for its Moxy Hotels brand. After major cities such as New York City, several settlements were planned in Chelsea, Midtown and Lower Manhattan, San Francisco, Seattle, New Orleans and Chicago.
"We have implemented a development strategy for the United States, in urban destinations popular with Generation Y and where the market is dynamic," said Eric Jacobs, Director of Development for Marriott International.
The opening of Moxy Seattle Downtown at the end of February 2018 represents an upheaval in the future of the city's hotel industry. Stonebridge Companies is the developer and property manager behind this latest addition of the Marriott International brand, which began in 2014 with the opening of Moxy Milan.
With 146 rooms spread over eight floors and a flexible event space in the entrance hall, the opening of Moxy Seattle brings to the city a "fun" and "elegant" hotel for residents and visitors alike.
This is the 23rd Moxy Hotel to be opened worldwide and the sixth Moxy Hotel in the United States. In 2018, Moxy Hotels is expected to open its doors in Washington DC, Memphis, Atlanta, Munich and more.
As of January 1,2017, Marriott International was the world's leading hotel group with 1,169,902 rooms and 5,997 hotels, according to the Hospitality ON ranking.
