The international group of Swiss origin, which already manages 2 resorts in Thailand, wishes to expand its presence in the country. To do this, a third complex, The Passage Ko Samui Resort, will shift into the hands of the brand to become the Mövenpick Resort Laem Yai Beach Samui, located in the southeast of the country.
With the conversion of the complex, the Swiss hotelier continues its development in Thailand. With two complexes in the destination already, the group does not plan to stop here and aims to open 7 hotels in the country by 2017, 5 of which next year. Thus, in addition to Ko Samui, the Pattaya Beach Resort and the city of Chiang Mai, in the north of the country, will be part of this project to expand the group's activity.
"This region is a significant growth sector for our brand, with the country seeing a 19.6% growth increase in tourism for 2013," according to Andreas Mattmüller, head of operations for Mövenpick group Midle East Asia.
