The hotel group announced the opening if three properties in the destination under the brands Anantara and Avani.

In a partnership with the Dubai firm Rani Investment LLC, Minor Hotel Group continues its investments in Mozambique and announces the opening of three new hotels in the destination. The 185-room Pemba Beach Hotel & Spa will be converted into an Avani Hotel, while the Medjumbe Private Island, with 13 chalets, and Matemo Island, with 24 villas, will become Anantara hotels. The three properties should reopen their doors under their new brands by the end of 2014, bringing the number of hotels in the group's portfolio to 108 for more than 13,000 rooms.

"This recent investment in three hotels in Mozambique shows Minor Hotel Group's commitment to the destination's tourism industry that is booming, and more generally in the overall tourist industry of all of Africa. We are currently exploring other opportunities to expand our presence on the continent through the development of our different brands," declared Dilip Rajakarier, CEO of Minor Hotel Group. The hotel group and Rani Investment LLC are both studying the capital of the country, Maputo.

Minor Hotel Group and Rani Investment LLC created a joint-venture in 2013 for the acquisition of the Indigo Bay Resort & Spa in Mozambique, which was converted into Anantara Bazaruto Island Resort & Spa from November.
