Gran Melià Bintan

The Spanish hotel group announced the opening of the Melià Hotel Doha in 2015 and the Grand Melià Bintan in 2017.

Melià Hotels International continues to develop worldwide and has announced two new hotels in Indonesia and Qatar. The Spanish hotel group plans to open a property in Doha in 2015 and in Bintan in 2017.

For the development of Melià Hotel Doha, the group signed an agreement with Tamniyat Qatar Real Estate. The property will open in the Samikh Tower at West Bay and will have 282 rooms and suites. In Indonesia, Melià Hotels International partnered with the owner of Bintan Resorts to open its brand Gran Melià. The Gran Melià Bintan will thus be the brand's second property in Indonesia, where the group has 5 hotels that are either operational or under development, and will have 120 suites and 38 villas.

On January 1, 2014, Melià Hotels International was the 20th hotel group worldwide in terms of number of rooms, according to the ranking realized each year by MKG Hospitality, consulting firm for the hotel industry founded by Georges Panayotis in 1985. It had 287 hotels and 75,762 rooms worldwide. (read our report)
