Acquired in 2013 by the LVMH Hotel Management group, the Hotel Saint-Barth Isle de France, in Saint Barthélémy in the French West Indies, should reopen its doors in October 2014 under the Cheval Blanc banner.
It will be the second hotel of the chain outside metropolitan France, after the Cheval Blanc Randheli in the Maldives, but not the last. Several other international destinations are currently in the chain's pipeline, including the Middle East with Egypt and Sultanate of Oman.
In France, the group is trying to pursue renovations of the former Samaritaine department store building, despite recent unfavorable court decisions, to create a luxury hotel with 80 rooms and suites overlooking the Seine. The Cheval Blanc brand already has one hotel in France at Courchevel that has 36 rooms.
