Sociedad de Jogos de Macao has asked the renowned international couturier to design one of its hotels that are currently under development within the Lisboa Palace complex in Macau.

After Sofitel So in Singapore, Karl Lagerfeld will design a hotel in Macau, China. He has, in fact, signed an agreement with Sociedade de Jogos de Macau (SJM) to develop the Karl Lagerfeld Hotel. The property will be built alongside the Lisboa Palace and Palazzo Versace hotels in the luxury Lisboa Palace complex. The Karl Lagerfeld Hotel will open in 2017 with 270 rooms and suites in a building with 20 floors.

"We are thrilled to collaborate with Karl Lagerfeld, a talented visionary designer, to introduce the first Karl Lagerfeld Hotel. With Palazzo Versace and our brand Lisboa, our complex should become a hub for luxury accommodations," declared Ambrose So, Chairman of the Board of Directors at SJM.

The Lisboa Palace should also open its doors in 2017, bringing together close to 2,000 rooms at its three hotels, and with several restaurants with Michelin stars, a shopping center, a marriage pavilion, and a theater, as well as a casino with more than 700 game tables and 1,200 slot machines.

Sociedad de Jogos de Macau is one of the six companies authorized by the region's government to operate casinos in Macau. It currently has a network with 17 casinos and two hotels at the destination, including the Sofitel Macau at Ponte 16 of which it owns 51%.
