Reykjavik

The hotel group has announced the opening of its first hotel in the country for the year 2018, which will be operated under the Edition brand.

Marriott International is making its way in Iceland. The hotel group has partnered with Ian Schrager and Carpenter & Company to develop an Edition by Marriott hotel on the island in the Atlantic. Located in the country's capital, Reykjavik, the  five-star property will have 250 rooms and should open by the end of 2018. It will be operated by Marriott International, through a long-term management contract.

This new Iceland address will strengthen the international portfolio of the lifestyle brand that is already present in cities such as New York, Miami, London and Istanbul. Other properties are currently under development and will allow the brand to establish itself in new destinations such as Abu Dhabi (2016), Sanya in China (2016), Bangkok (2016), New York (2018), Los Angeles (2018), Wuhan in China (2019) and Bali (2019).

As of January 1, 2015, Marriott Hotels International was the third hotel group worldwide in terms of number of rooms with 701,899 units in 4,117 properties according to MKG Hospitality, consulting firm founded by Georges Panayotis. (Read our report)
