The Spanish group has just announced new openings for 2020, developing in several European and American markets.
Eleven new urban hotels and resorts join the Spanish hotel portfolio in 2020. Not without surprise, most of them are based in the domestic market, Spain. Four new properties strengthen Iberostar's position in Spanish urban markets such as Madrid or seaside resorts such as Mallorca. The group also significantly invest in Montenegro, with a portfolio that is doubling in size, growing from 3 to 6 hotels this year. The group is also entering the Italian market, with a hotel in Rome.
The openings in Europe include:
- Iberostar Grand Fontana di Trevi, Rome (5 stars)
- Iberostar Selection Teatro Albéniz, Madrid (5 stars)
- Iberostar Heritage Llum Portocolom, Majorca (5 stars)
- Iberostar Cala Domingos, Majorca (4 stars)
- Iberostar Bijela Delfín, Montenegro (4 stars, family friendly)
- Iberostar Bijela Park, Montenegro (4 stars, family friendly)
- Iberostar Selection Kumbor, Montenegro (5 stars)
The group is also strengthening its position in Cuba, a destination when it started to invest a few years ago, alongside other groups in a movement to expand the local hotel supply.
The latest arrivals on the Caribbean island:
- Iberostar Selection Almirante (5 stars)
- Iberostar Selection Esmeralda (450 rooms)
- Iberostar Bella Costa (4 stars)
Iberostar also welcomes a new destination in its South American portfolio: Peru. A hotel opens in the capital on the Pacific coast:

Last but not least, several major renovations have been or will be completed this year. The properties that reopen are:

Iberostar registers 43 hotels in Europe on 1 January 2019, with a total of 11,552 rooms, placing it 31st position in the Hospitality ON ranking (Hospitality ON data).
