
InterContinental Hotels Group announced the opening of a new Holiday Inn Express in Cologne for the beginning of 2017. This will be the brand's third property after those located in Muelheim and Troisdorf, near the airport.
The architect Gernot Nalbach will be working on the project. His agency produced the Motel One Berlin Hauptbahnhof. He will work in collaboration with the Design Committee of the City of Cologne which produces the front elevation. Scheduled to open in 2017, the Holiday Inn Express has 323 rooms and two F&B concepts: the Express Cafe & Bar and an improved fast food concept.
On January 1, 2015, InterContinental Hotels Group was the second biggest European hotel group in terms of number of rooms with 90,160 units in 589 properties according to MKG Hospitality, consulting firm founded by Georges Panayotis. (Read our report)
