Holiday Inn Express, Voronezh

After opening its first Indigo Hotel property in Saint Petersburg, IHG continues to expand its footprint in Russia through the upcoming opening of its first Holiday Inn Express unit in the country, in Voronezh-Kirova.

This 145-room Holiday Inn Express unit will be located in the city center of Voronezh, a city with 1 million inhabitants located halfway between Moscow and Rostov-on-Don, close to major Russian highways and railways. Its opening will take place in a few weeks and is part of a multiple development agreement signed with Regional Hotel Chain (RHC) in 2013. Indeed, IHG plans to significantly expand its footprint in Russia, with a target of 100 hotels to be opened or under development by 2020.

Robert Shepherd, IHG's Chief Development Officer Europe, stated: "Russia, the CIS and Georgia is a priority market for us and we want to be number one there. In line with our strategy we are expanding our portfolio of brands in the region, and in March this year we brought our upscale boutique brand Hotel Indigo to Russia.  We have also identified a gap in the market for quality, affordable mid-market accommodation and our Holiday Inn Express brand meets the needs of our owners and our guests perfectly."
