Double Tree by Hilton Queenstown

Hilton Worldwide announced the opening of the first hotel under the Double Tree brand at the destination, in Queenstown.

Double Tree by Hilton makes its debut on New Zealand's market opening the brand's first hotel at the destination in Queenstown. The conversion of the former Kawaru Hotel, located in the heart of Kawaru Village, near the international airport and the center of the capital, the Double Tree by Hilton Queenstown has 98 rooms, all equipped with a kitchenette. It is operated by Hilton Worldwide through a management contract.

"Australasia is a key growth market for Double Tree by Hilton, and the introduction of the brand into New Zealand marks a significant milestone as we continue to expand our offering to travelers in the region," said Ashley Spencer, vice president Operations, Australasia.

On January 1, 2014, Double Tree by Hilton was 23rd hotel chain worldwide in terms of number of rooms, according to the ranking realized each year by MKG Hospitality, hospitality consulting firm founded by Georges Panayotis. It had an international portfolio of 371 hotels and 93,000 rooms.  (read our report).
