The brand developed by Ikea, in a partnership with Marriott International, will open its first six properties by the end of 2015, on the Italian, German and Norwegian markets.
Moxy Hotel, the new brand by Marriott International, Nordic Hospitality and Inter Hospitality Holding (subsidiary of Ikea), will reveal its economy hotel concept by September 2014, with the opening of its first property in Italy, the Moxy Milan Malpensa. Located in Terminal 2 at the Milan airport, the hotel will have 162 functional and connected rooms as well as meeting areas.
The economy brand plans to follow up by opening five more properties by the end of 2015, four of which in Germany and one in Norway: the Moxy Munich Airport with 317 rooms, the 190-room Moxy Berlin Ostbahnhof, the 305-room Moxy Frankfurt Gateway Gardens, the 266-room Moxy Berlin Airport, as well as the Moxy Oslo Exporama with 229 rooms.
Marriott International plans to pursue growth of the chain to achieve a portfolio of 150 hotels over the next 10 years, and hopes to sign contracts before the end of 2014 for the development of 13 additional hotels.
