This new boutique-hotel confirms the increased opening of unique hotels in Europe, a direction that is all the more accentuated by the context of the beginning of the year 2020, which is leading more and more to a search by tourist clientele for an exclusive and intimate offer and the promise of an experiential stay.
Thus, in Europe, three Edinburgh nightclubs will be refurbished as boutique-hotels this year, two boutique-hotels of the Zadig & Voltaire fashion house in Paris and the first all-vegan hotel in Greece will open their doors in 2021.
Spain is no exception to the rule with the opening of the 15-room Casa Cacao boutique-hotel in Girona on the theme, as its name suggests, of chocolate, with a direct link to the luxury chocolate factory and restaurant El Celler de Can Roca and its upscale services. Anna Payet - manager of the hotel told Global Traveller :
"The rooftop terrace is reserved for hotel guests only. Here you can have a quiet breakfast with local handicrafts, while enjoying the panorama of Girona's old town".
Guests also have privileged access to the factory's high-quality chocolate, including the beauty products and pastries from the shop.
However, the hotel focuses on luxury and guarantees exclusive services to hotel guests, more than on the concept of chocolate itself. Indeed, the latter is only declined by the use of the colour and texture of cocoa beans for the paint and furniture.
In addition to its positioning and concept, the hotel enjoys a pre-existing reputation thanks to the El Celler restaurant, twice named "best restaurant in the world" and the media fame of its co-founder Jordi Roca.
